Beatriz Cardoso
2013 ALI Fellow

Beatriz Cardoso is a social entrepreneur who champions public education and develops innovative approaches to improve the quality of teaching and learning in public schools in her native Brazil. She is the founder and executive director of Laboratório de Educação, an NGO dedicated to the development of applied knowledge to strengthen educational processes, both within and outside of schools.

Beatriz sits on the boards of InternetLab and the Fernando Henrique Cardoso Foundation, is a Senior Ashoka Fellow, and is country coordinator for ProLEER, an international researcher, practitioner, and policymaker network committed to improving public education practice and policy. A co-principal investigator of the Language for Learning research team at Harvard’s Graduate School of Education, she was recently nominated as counselor of São Paulo’s Municipal Education Committee.

A member of the 2013 ALI Cohort, Beatriz is returning to Harvard to work on the development of public policies which will further tackle structural educational challenges and ensure children of all social and economic backgrounds can succeed through effective teaching.
