Janice Brooks
2020 ALI Fellow

Prior to ALI, Janice Brooks spent over 20 years in public service leadership. At the federal level, she has been a human resources and labor-management expert at the U.S. Office of Personnel Management, the National Labor Relations Board, and the Department of Treasury; she is also the past state executive director for the Mississippi Department of Human Services. Most recently Janice has been devoted to the revitalization of small rural towns in her native Mississippi through engagement with municipality leadership and nonprofits that promote economic revitalization, social equity advocacy, and sustainability. She serves on the board of the National Congress of Black Women, is the past honorary national chair of women in the NAACP, and has received multiple awards recognizing her commitment to service.
