Bob Cooney brings to ALI deep expertise in real estate law, finance, and corporate governance. As senior vice president and general counsel at Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC), a community development financial institution, he led the legal and compliance departments, providing strategic counsel and regulatory guidance to LISC’s lending, fund management, and government contracting businesses and enabling them to drive positive community impact. Previously, Bob founded Steel Castle Capital, where he oversaw the firm’s real estate investments and operations, and he spent over a decade as a partner at Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP, advising clients on private equity, joint venture, and other complex real estate transactions.
Bob serves on the boards of LISC Fund Management, National Equity Fund, National Community Stabilization Trust, and Chester Community Improvement Project. Throughout his career, he has played a key role in structuring innovative investments and advancing financial strategies that support affordable housing and community development.
