On Monday, April 18, 12:00 - 1:15 pm (ET) ALI will welcome Fred Swaniker, the founder of the African Leadership University, and Brian Rosenberg, president emeritus of Macalester College and current president-in-residence and visiting professor of education at the Harvard Graduate School of Education for an intimate virtual conversation.
Fred and Brian will share how the African Leadership University (ALU) is turning the global paradigm of higher education exclusivity on its head by providing an accessible, affordable, and mission-focused educational experience at scale to address the vast unmet need of higher education in Africa and, in so doing, is preparing the next generation of ethical and entrepreneurial leaders for the continent.
Attendees will learn how they can join ALU in its mission through teaching and mentoring, both on the ground at ALU’s African campuses and virtually through online learning and advising opportunities. If you have bandwidth and a willingness to share your expertise to educate tomorrow’s leaders, you won’t want to miss this inspiring session!
Twice recognized by President Obama for his work in developing Africa’s future leaders, Fred Swaniker is a World Economic Forum Young Global Leader and was named by Forbes Magazine as one of the top ten young “power men” in Africa and by Echoing Green as one of the fifteen “best emerging social entrepreneurs in the world.” Born in Ghana and having lived in 10 different African countries, he is deeply passionate about the continent and is working to develop three million game-changing leaders for Africa by 2060.
Brian Rosenberg is president emeritus of Macalester College in St. Paul, Minnesota and the current president-in-residence at the Harvard Graduate School of Education, where he is also a visiting professor of education. A scholar on Charles Dickens, he has published numerous articles on Dickens and other subjects, as well as two books.
