Social Impact Hackathon

We look forward to welcoming you to ALI’s first ever Social Impact Hackathon!

This event is a unique opportunity for ALI Fellows and Harvard students to partner with social impact organizations and solve real-life challenges.

You’ll be working collaboratively with a small team to develop solutions and recommendations in response to specific asks from partner organizations. You’ll meet the organization leaders, learn the context around the problems they are facing, and work intensively to create working solutions to their challenges.

The organization leaders will stay on to mentor groups throughout the Hackathon and, by the end of day Saturday, you will be ready to share your proposed solutions and thinking with the cohort, the partner organizations, and a small group of Harvard faculty members.

Thank you for your commitment to keeping your colleagues safe!

Seating Cards & Name Tags

Seating in the classroom has been organized and assigned according to working group! Please leave your seating card in place, including at the end of the first day. Participants will return to their same seat for the closing session on the second day. Seating cards will not be used during interactive working groups. A name tag will be provided on the first day of the Hackathon. Kindly wear your name tag at all times. Please remember to take your name tag home and bring it with you the second day.

You can connect to the network simply by selecting it from the list of available wireless networks on your laptop or mobile device. Mobile phones should be switched off or turned to silent during plenary sessions. When you meet on Friday please coordinate within your group to ensure that each group has at least 1 laptop for use on Saturday. This will allow for online research as well as completion of a short group memo at the end of the hackathon

The hackathon is an interactive event for both in-person and virtual participants and will be delivered in hybrid format. Please note that the opening plenary and closing pitches will be recorded and available to partner organizations and participants.

Virtual participants will receive the Zoom link 48 hours prior to the event.
