Garrett Moran began his work with Year Up before he was a 2013 ALI Fellow. While at The Blackstone Group, he oversaw social impact strategy and partnered with Year Up to provide internships at the Blackstone portfolio companies. Shortly after Moran arrived at ALI, he was asked to join Year Up as their new president. Upon arriving at Year Up he set about repositioning the organization towards greater growth and scale. He supervised changes to Year Up’s training to more effectively meet employer needs and increase the rate of interns converting to full-time work, all while reducing the cost of delivering outcomes. After five years at Year Up, the organization more than doubled the number of students it served to over 4,000 per year, with all outcomes and cost metrics improving substantially. Year Up continues to grow and thrive, and is making significant progress toward closing the Opportunity Divide.
