Brett Perlman
2026 Impact Leader in Residence
Brett Perlman brings to ALI a multifaceted career spanning management consulting, senior government leadership, and nonprofit executive roles. Most recently, as CEO of the Center for Houston’s Future, he led initiatives addressing Houston’s toughest challenges. At the Center, he led the creation of HyVelocity Hub, which won a U.S. Department of Energy grant. Previously, Brett served as Commissioner of the Public Utility Commission of Texas, leading the state’s landmark electricity restructuring. His consulting work includes McKinsey & Company and his own firm, advising senior executives and private equity firms on clean energy and utility transformation.
Brett has served as an independent board director for public and private equity-backed companies. His civic contributions include cofounding the Surge Accelerator, an early-stage energy technology program, and serving on the boards of the Houston Technology Center and the Chinquapin School.
A 2016 ALI Fellow, he returns to Harvard as an ALI Impact Leader in Residence.
