Maurizio Bevilacqua

Maurizio Bevilacqua brings to ALI a distinguished career spanning over three decades in public service, politics, and civic leadership. He served as mayor of the city of Vaughan for twelve years following a 22-year tenure as a member of parliament, where he held key cabinet positions including minister of state for finance and minister of state for science, research and development. In addition to chairing the House of Commons Finance Committee, Maurizio contributed to intergovernmental and immigration policy and played a central role in shaping national economic strategies. He has also held governance roles on numerous boards, including Alectra Inc., PowerStream, and VersaBank.
Deeply engaged in philanthropy and community development, Maurizio chaired major capital campaigns for Mackenzie Health, Hospice Vaughan, Vaughan International Film Festival, and the Lou Fruitman Reena Residence, collectively raising hundreds of millions for healthcare and social services. He is a founding force behind the Spirit of Generosity Initiative and has been honored with numerous civic, humanitarian, and international awards recognizing his lifelong commitment to public good.
