Amy Bach is a social entrepreneur who has spent over two decades translating rigorous research and investigative journalism into systemic reform of the American criminal justice system. Amy founded Measures for Justice and built the nonpartisan nonprofit into a national organization providing policymakers, practitioners, and advocates with criminal justice data sourced from 1,200 counties in 21 states. She also brought communities and law enforcement together, using data to drive accountability and reform. Her work has shaped landmark state data legislation and established national open-data standards for courts, enabling stakeholders to conduct cross-jurisdictional comparisons. Amy began her career as a journalist at The American Lawyer and her freelance work has been published in The New York Times, New York Magazine, The Nation, and Slate. She is the author of Ordinary Injustice: How America Holds Court, an award-winning exposé on criminal justice system failures that catalyzed a push for justice accountability and served as a launching point for the data-measurement work undertaken by Measures for Justice.
