Hugh Roome

Hugh Roome brings to ALI experience in education, media, international business, and nonprofit leadership. Hugh held senior leadership roles at Scholastic Inc., where he led international operations, consumer media businesses, and digital education initiatives across Asia, Europe, Latin America, and the United States. His work included launching educational platforms, expanding international school initiatives, building global partnerships, and leading organizational growth and digital transformation efforts across publishing and education businesses.

Hugh serves on nonprofit and educational boards connected to youth development, medicine, and international affairs. A long-time trustee of Tufts University, he chairs the board of advisors for the university’s Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine, co-founded Autonomous Vehicles of America, co-chaired the Alliance for Young Artists and Writers, and is a founding supporter of the Tufts University Lyme Disease Initiative. Hugh also remains active in organizations focused on education, public policy, and international dialogue and previously taught at New York University.
