F. Whitten Peters brings to ALI experience in national security, public service, law, and defense leadership. Whit served as Secretary and Acting Secretary of the Air Force, Under Secretary of the Air Force, and Principal Deputy General Counsel of the Department of Defense, overseeing initiatives involving military readiness, aircraft modernization, force integration, defense acquisition, and national security policy. Before and after his government service, he was a partner at Williams & Connolly and earlier in his career clerked for Supreme Court Justice William J. Brennan Jr. and D.C. Circuit Judge J. Skelly Wright.

Whit serves on corporate, nonprofit, and federal advisory boards connected to aerospace, military families, ethics, and national security leadership. He co-chaired the U.S. Commission on the Aerospace Industry, chaired the Air & Space Forces Association board, taught law at Georgetown University Law Center and The Catholic University of America, and remains active in legal ethics, professional leadership, and public service initiatives.
