Munira Gilani

Munira Gilani brings to ALI significant and sustained leadership experience across business, hospitality, food systems, and community development in Kenya. Munira served as chairman of Mayfair Holdings and previously led Imperial Hotel Kisumu and Peche Foods, where she focused on operational growth, sustainable food systems, hospitality management, and regional economic development. Her work emphasized nutrition, food security, workforce wellbeing, and community-centered business practices, including efforts to strengthen local supply chains and expand access to international markets.
Munira founded and chairs the Gilani Family Foundation and has led initiatives focused on education access, women's entrepreneurship, healthcare, food security, and community resilience. She has also served for more than two decades in leadership roles with Aga Khan Health Services and other Aga Khan community institutions focused on education, healthcare, and social welfare, and remains active in programs supporting youth development, nutrition, and grassroots economic empowerment across Kenya.
